Description

Nationalism is making a comeback, with far-right movements advocating protectionism, border control, and rejection of international regulations under the banner of decolonization. Historically, national liberation movements also sought freedom through nationalist claims. But is the anti-colonial struggle compatible with nationalism? This course explores key texts on nationalism, anticolonial, postcolonial, and decolonial theory, applying them to historical cases to examine the complex relationship between nationalism, the modern state, and emancipation.
