Description
This intensive course introduces students to Bay Area museums, their exhibition histories, and curatorial practices. Field trips allow students to have private conversations with museum curators, go behind the scenes, and engage in direct study of objects in exhibitions.
Enrollment Requirements
Enrollment is restricted to juniors and seniors.
Class Notes
Special Session Dates: June 23-July 7 (weekdays except July 4th holiday)
We will alternate field trip days (full days, 9:00 am to 6:30 pm) and seminar days (3-hour classes, 1:00-4:00 pm) throughout the two-week session. Students are expected to attend every day and keep up with daily reading and writing assignments. Short papers are due at each class meeting.
This is an intensive hands-on course, with special opportunities to meet with curators at world-renowned museums and galleries in the San Francisco Bay Area.
