Description
Course examines the everyday life of the Palestinian citizens of Israel.? Palestinians who ??remained within what became the State of Israel after the 1948 war became a national and ethnic minority overnight. Although granted citizenship, they were excluded from the Jewish ?majority society and were ?discriminated against by the state?. Course deepens the understanding of the conflict while focusing on the complex relations between the Palestinian and Jewish citizens in Israel, highlights the Palestinians' social and cultural aspects, and sheds light on how they ??experience everyday life as a minority. Students learn how to apply sociological and anthropological approaches to understand better the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and minority-majority relations in general. ?
