Class Detail

Introduction to the physical basis and mathematical models of electrical components and circuits. Topics include circuit theorems (Thevenin and Norton Equivalents, Superposition), constant and sinusoidal inputs, natural and forced response of linear circuits. Introduction to circuit/network design, maximum power transfer, analog filters, and circuit analysis using Matlab. Topics in elementary electronics including amplifiers and feedback. (Formerly EE 101.)

Prerequisite(s): PHYS 5C and PHYS 5N; or PHYS 6C and PHYS 6N; and MATH 24 or PHYS 116A, or previous or concurrent enrollment in AM 20. Concurrent enrollment in ECE 101L is required.

The official wait lists for courses with required, co-requisite, credit-bearing labs are based on the wait lists for the lab sections only. Waitlist the ECE 101L section first. You cannot enroll in the lecture until you have successfully been enrolled in the co-requisite lab section. If you have already passed the lab and only need the lecture and get an error message, email summer@ucsc.edu for enrollment support.
