Description
Addresses the changing but continuing patterns of unequal expectations, opportunities, and treatment throughout the educational system for all students, female and male, who do not match a standard model of gender performance.
Enrollment Requirements
Enrollment is restricted to junior and senior education, democracy and justice majors, science education majors, STEM & EDUC minors, or by permission of instructor.
Class Notes
All students can enroll - prerequisites and restriction review is waived in summer.
From the Instructor: In this course, we will develop and strengthen our understanding of gender, sex, sexuality, race, class, ability, and other social positions and markers in relation to schooling. Analytic tools, such as intersectionality, are used to arrive at complex understandings and critiques about how gender is conceptualized, rationalized, reified, surveilled, and policed in schools.
