Introduction to electricity and magnetism. Elementary circuits; Maxwell's equations; electromagnetic radiation; interference and polarization of light.
Enrollment Requirements
Prerequisite(s): PHYS 5A or PHYS 6A or PHYS 7A; and MATH 11B or MATH 16B or MATH 19B or MATH 20B or AM 15B.
Class Notes
Enrollment in the associated discussion section is mandatory.
The In-Person Final will be on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Location: TBA.
All students - If you completed the prerequisites but get an error message, email your proof of prerequisite material to the department at physicsadvising@ucsc.edu for approval to enroll.
If you DO NOT have the prerequisite material, please contact the instructor--Christopher Donohue, cmdonohu@ucsc.edu-- for permission to enroll in their class.
