Description

Applications-oriented course on complex numbers and linear algebra integrating Matlab as a computational support tool. Introduction to complex algebra. Vectors, bases and transformations, matrix algebra, solutions of linear systems, inverses and determinants, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, and geometric transformations. Students cannot receive credit for this course and MATH 21.

Enrollment Requirements

Prerequisite(s): score of 400 or higher on the mathematics placement examination (MPE) or Mathematics 3. Prerequisites and requirements lifted for summer session students.

From the instructor: Optional discussion sections are TBA. Attendance will contribute 5% to your grades. So not mandatory, but highly recommended, and there is a slight penalty for missing a lot of lectures. The final exam for this course will be administered online through a proctoring service or on Zoom by the instructor and teaching assistants. Students may opt to take the final exam in a classroom on campus during the last week of the session. Students will not be charged for online proctoring.
