Description

Examines global heath from a decolonial perspective. Investigates the health challenges and related policies and programs that have emerged in the wake of colonization, state building, economic dependency, western-centered knowledge production, and postcolonial nationalism. Focused on case studies from Africa and the Middle East, the course decenters western models of healthcare, enabling students to think critically about the diverse contexts and transnational dynamics that have shaped both global health emergencies and the emergence of global health as a field.
