Theme: Contemporary Neuroscience Narratives of Health and Wellbeing
Short Description: Some neuroscientists write that emotional intelligence contributes to a person's success in life more so than performance on IQ tests, SAT scores and other standardized exams. Other neuroscientists publish research in support of the idea that you can?t believe (and definitely should not act on!) everything you see, hear, feel and/or think. Both claims suggest that perceptions of well-being and unrest are shaped in relationship to concepts of neuroscience and emotional intelligence. Assignments for reading, writing, research and observation in this Writing 2 course will address how physical, emotional and neurological trauma are perpetuated by cultural phenomena such as mass media, social constructions, and generational heritages. Note: this is an online course, which means you will need a functional device(s) and stable internet access; the class will be primarily asynchronous, but requires your participation in a few writing group sessions (TBD) via Zoom.
Add deadline: June 30, 2023, at 5 pm.
