Explores how countries organize their societies through legal rules. Particular attention is given to constitutional design, differences between common and civil law systems, changes brought about by the European Union, and the convergence of legal norms globally.

Enrollment is restricted to politics and legal studies majors during first and second pass enrollment.

All students - all majors welcome, restriction review waived in the summer. Also offered as LGST 116. From the Instructor: Mandatory section is held once a week, and the class TA will announce it one week before class starts.
