Class Detail

An integrated study of general chemistry. Coverage includes thermodynamics; oxidation-reduction and electrochemistry; liquids and solids; intermolecular forces and solutions, including colligative properties; and nuclear chemistry. General Chemistry is articulated in a full-year series. Partial transfer credit is not allowed for the A,B,C series.

Prerequisite(s): CHEM 1A. Concurrent enrollment in course 1N is recommended.

If you completed the prerequisites but get an error message: UCSC Students contact department for approval to enroll - chemistryadvising@ucsc.edu. Provide proof of prerequisite material. Visiting Students - prerequisite review is waived in summer. Contact summer@ucsc.edu for a permission number to enroll. If you need to take CHEM 1A-01, enroll in that course first, then email summer@ucsc.edu for a permission number to enroll in this course.
