Class Notes
Life in the Sea focuses on the ecology of plants and animals in the open-ocean and coastal environments. In this course we will review basic oceanography and biology, then focus on marine life from single-cellular plankton to blue whales. You will learn the evolutionary history of life in the ocean, understand how to classify marine animals, explore various marine habitats and ecosystems, and discuss the threats of climate change and marine pollution. High school biology and chemistry courses are recommended prior to taking this course.
