Enrollment Requirements
Prerequisite(s): PHIL 9; one from PHIL 11 or PHIL 22 or PHIL 23 or PHIL 24 or PHIL 80E or BME 80G/PHIL 80G or PHIL 80M or PHIL 80S; and PHIL 100A or PHIL 100B or PHIL 100C.
Class Notes
All students - prerequisites are lifted in summer.
From the Instructor:
In this class we will gain an understanding of topics that can only be sought by taking the road less traveled by traditional natural science. We will look at what it means for any particular to have universal attributes or properties. We will study the possible ways in which a given particular persists within and throughout space and time. There will also be fun stuff like analyses of whether imaginary things like unicorns, superheroes, and other fictional characters actually exist, and if so, in what way(s)?
There will be two three-hour sections per week. The first two hours will be devoted to lecture and discussion while the final hour of each meeting will be devoted to groupwork with your classmates.
