Description
Focus on teaching intermediate to advanced students the processes and techniques of direct metal fabrication for contemporary sculpture and design. Explores a range of welding, cutting, and forming techniques and processes through demonstrations, slide lectures, field trips, and studio time. Demonstrations, slide lectures, and critical discussion of work help develop technical and conceptual skills. Students are billed a materials fee. May be repeated for credit.
Enrollment Requirements
Prerequisites: Art 20D, 20H, 23, 28, 29, 37, 40, 120, 121, 122, 124, 125, 129, 172, 180B, 188, or 189; and two non-sculpture/intermedia public art lower-division studios (Art 15-38 or CMPS 25, or CMPM 25). Restricted to art majors.
Class Notes
In summer, all prerequisites and restrictions are lifted.
Class time includes an hour lunch break.
