Class Notes
From the Instructor: This course takes an alternative approach to thinking about globalization. We will develop our sociological imaginations while moving through several key historical moments in world histories: racial capitalism and colonialism, the Third World and anti-colonial projects, neoliberalism, and contemporary struggles for global justice. We will also attempt to develop a more comprehensive understanding of these global processes by addressing the experiences, struggles, and events of peoples in parts of the world beyond Europe and the US. We will critically analyze these histories so that we may more deeply understand and ? potentially ? address conditions of local, national, and global inequality. Class will meet in person on Tuesday 1-4:30 and remotely on Thursday 1-4:30.
