Description

Special studies in photography, concentrating on specific subject matter or media. Topics may include documentary photography, landscape, alternative processes, or mixed media. Students are billed a materials fee. May be repeated for credit.

Enrollment Requirements

Prerequisite(s): ART 150 or ART 156. Enrollment is restricted to art majors.

Class Notes

In summer, all prerequisites and restrictions are lifted. This course runs from August 1-23. The Photography Field Research Quarter (PFRQ) is a 10 unit class that takes place entirely in the field. The PFRQ is a rigorous and intensive study in field research methods, data acquisition and storage, and advanced photographic practices. Students and the instructor are going to travel by van through seven UC NRS Reserves covering ground from Northern Mendocino County to the Eastern Sierra, down to the Salton Sea and back up through Big Sur. Class capacity limited to 11 students. $500 course fee (not including food).
